That's mainly just possessions, bonds, he's apparently not talking about possessions.

We'll find out in a minute what he means by poverty.

67.

Ok i'll ask you another. Do you think a family being unable to afford a holiday,50"tv,having a house full of i pads, playstations etc count as poverty?

Just because some cant have some of the things they want it dosn't make them poverty stricken.

What statistics?

Sorry, I thought considering your views on the matter, you'd actually know what you was talking about. My mistake.

If you want to know what actual poverty is, go to India.

.
I was listening to a podcast a while back and someone was suggesting anythingvbelow 18k per year represented poverty.

What would you say is the bare minimum a person needs to rise above the poverty level?

Eerie Descent 11:50 Sun Oct 20
Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
What do you base it on?

Westham67 11:47 Sun Oct 20
Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
And there lies the problem people like you base poverty on possessions

Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
I agree with 67, 20% of this country can't afford anything better than an iPhone 6, the poor fuckers.

Westham67 11:25 Sun Oct 20
Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
It is yes relative to the wealth of the country roughly 20%

There aren't many working like that now. Even unskilled cleaners and uber drivers can pick and choose their days. There has never been a better time than now to be a worker in tbs UK. Get a driving license and be your own boss if your job is so shit.

Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
There is a line in the movie Platoon where Chris says I volunteered because it should not just be the poor kids fighting and the response is "You have to be rich to think like that"

This is case now many are working week to week or month to month just to keep their head above water fuck the climate

eusebiovic, you need to stop with this guilt shit and see that you and the other generations that you blame, have little to no say in the way successive governments have led us to a situation where almost everything is too expensive. stop with the ageist crap and direct the anger at those useless cunts in westminster

" I also saved a £22,000 deposit."

That's the point. You saved on a low wage.

Re: Extinction Rebellion are back
I have never voted for the Labour Party or the Conservative Party...and to state that the baby boomer or generation X (that's me) have no responsibility whatsoever for the current state of affairs is breathtaking ignorance.

Not all the youth are spoilt...to observe that the obscene price of property is probably the major issue of discontent is not a political statement at all...I thought it was fairly obvious.

I bought a 3 bedroom flat in Kennington for £97,000 in 1995 and I was only working in the food halls at Harrods - I also saved a £22,000 deposit.

You can't say that is an irrelevant fact. But people like to make excuses because they have too much to lose... particularly from the buy to let market.

"The revenge of the youth will be brutal "

The new youth have been taught by people who share your political inclinations, to hate. They have been taught to hate people who have a different colour skin and the female ones have been taught to hate men with the lightest shades of skin. With that in mind, you may be right but considering they've never had it so good, their anger will be ideological, not economic.
